Registration is open for the 32nd annual Le Grizz 50-mile ultramarathon race along the east side of the Hungry Horse Reservoir on Oct. 12. The foot race is sponsored by the Cheetah Herders Athletic Club as a way to help first-time ultradistance runners get to the finish line. For more information, visit online at www.cheetahherders.com. Deadline to register is Sept. 28.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
