GREAT FALLS — The Glacier boys played in a close heat for the top spot at the Great Falls Invitational, finishing third, five strokes back of the leaders. 

Glacier’s Cody Sherrill was three strokes off the pace set by CMR’s Easton Enott, finishing in a tie for fourth with a two-day total of 141. Sherrill shot a 2-under-par round of 69 on Tuesday. Teammate Tommy Mann also shot a 69 to finish in a tie for sixth with Flathead’s Ryan Keenan, the top finisher for the Braves, at 143. 

Flathead’s Joseph Potkonjak finished in a tie for 16th with a 148 and Glacier’s Kevin Talcott was tied for 19th at 149. Glacier’s Scott Larson, who warmed up for the tournament with his first hole-in-one last week at Northern Pines, finished in 32nd with a 156 to round out the scoring for the Wolfpack.

Flathead’s boys finished in 10th as a team, one spot ahead of Whitefish, which turned in the lowest total for a Class A team. Art Doorn led the way for the Bulldog boys, finishing tied for 11th with a 145. He shot a 75 on Tuesday after entering the round tied for first. 

Co-leaders entering the day, Enott and Sean Bensen of Billings Senior, went low in the final round. Enott shot a tournament low 68 to win the boys side and Bensen shot a 69 to finish in second.

Whitefish’s Erin Tabish led the Bulldog girls to a seventh place team finish, shooting a 156 to close the tournament in fifth place. She finished six strokes off the pace set by the leaders, Senior’s Kortney McNeil and Sammy Walter, who each finished at 150. The Bulldogs’ Katie Fyall tied for 13th, shooting a 172.

Teigan Avery led the Glacier girls with a seventh place finish, carding a 159. Flathead’s Jenna Jensen was one of four players to tie for ninth, shooting 170. The Bravettes finished ninth as a team. Glacier didn’t qualify for a team score, only fielding three golfers. 

Flathead and Glacier are each off until Sept. 5 when they head down to Fairmont Hot Springs Resort in Anaconda for the Butte Invitational. Whitefish is scheduled to play the Browning Invite on Thursday in East Glacier.
