COEUR d'ALENE - In less than two years, Emmett Snyders lived a life and a half. Diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at the age of just 10 months, he died in 2011, but not before leaving a lasting impression.

Family and friends of the young cancer victim will celebrate his legacy on Sept. 22 with the second Emmett Paul Snyders Golf Tournament, an 18-hole golf tournament at The Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course, with a catered barbecue lunch and live and silent auctions.

All proceeds go to the Emmett Paul Snyders Foundation, which directly benefits local children with cancer and their families.

"Emmett was an absolute joy every moment of every day, and we consider it the highest privilege to have been his family," said his mother, Maren Snyders. "Throughout treatment on both good and bad days, he bore a smile so infectious that it was impossible for all around not to join him."

Emmett's Foundation is associated with ACCOIN, the American Childhood Cancer Organization of the Inland Northwest, which in the past year has served 200 children who were in active or follow-up treatment. ACCOIN relies solely on private donations to fund their organization.

Participants are encouraged to join the entire event, attend simply the lunch and auction, or contribute tax-deductible items or services.

Tickets are $150 for golf, lunch and auction, or $25 for lunch and auction, available at Prairie Family Medicine in Coeur d'Alene at (208) 209-0288.
