COEUR d'ALENE - Kade Murphree scored the tiebreaking goal from 8 yards out off a feed from Garrett Flolo in the 53rd minute, lifting the Lake City Timberwolves past the Sandpoint Bulldogs 2-1 in Lake City's boys soccer season opener Thursday at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.

"I thought we did well for a first game," Lake City coach Chad Beadell said. "Sandpoint did a lot of good stuff, and we're lucky they didn't capitalize on a few more things. But (Lake City goalkeeper) Tanner (Horton) made some nice saves; he had to make two one-on-one saves in the last five minutes."

Dylan Flolo scored in the second minute for Lake City, taking a 50-yard pass from Jack Barrett and heading it in from 12 yards out. Matthew Burgstahler tied it for Sandpoint (0-1-1) in the 14th minute on a scramble in front of the net.
