Vibrant downtown? Check.

Opportunities to take classes and continue learning new things? Check.

Lots of places to volunteer or work part-time? Check.

Those Lake City attributes -combined with good neighborhoods for walking, a solid health care system, weather that's not too extreme and tax situations that won't kill you - earned Coeur d'Alene a spot in the newest edition of "America's 100 Best Places to Retire."

Published by Where to Retire magazine, the book features the editors' top picks for retirees seeking new places to call home.

Coeur d'Alene and Boise are the only Idaho cities on the list of 100 locales in 34 states.

Washington boasts four spots on the list: Olympia, Port Townsend, Spokane and Whidbey Island.

Over in Montana, Flathead Valley and Missoula are the places baby boomers are pointed toward.

It's not the first time Coeur d'Alene has been noted as a good place for retirees seeking to relocate. Less than a year ago, CNN Money listed the city ninth in the nation's top 25 retirement spots.
