Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years, 4 months AGO
Lowava Mae Erickson went home to the Lord on July 14, 2013, in Vancouver, Wash. She was born to Charles and Georgia Cox on Jan. 11,1919, in Morrill, Neb.
Lowava came to Sandpoint with her brother Clyde and his family in 1935. Her parents followed a year later.
She attended schools in Morrill, Neb., and graduated from Sandpoint High School and Kinman Business College.
Feb. 14, 1941, Lowava married Walt Erickson. In 1942 she and Walt moved to Seattle where he worked in the Bremerton Navy Yard.
Lowava found office work. During the war they purchased a farm in Sandpoint and moved back to Idaho about a year before the war was over.
Later they adopted two sons, David and Terry, who brought them great joy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt, May 2005; her parents and brother Clyde.
She is survived by her sons, David (Sandy) of Vancouver and Terry (Belinda) Melbourne, Fla.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Wilma Erickson of Ponderay and Emily Hart of Colfax, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sandpoint and later Coeur d’Alene Bible Church.
She moved to Vancouver in December 2011 to be near her son David so that he and the family could take care of her. She loved seeing her family and spending time with them. Lowava was a wonderful mom who loved the Lord and was always willing to help people. Although she will be missed by her family and friends, her life blessed them and she will live in our hearts forever.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint. Following the service coffee and refreshments will be served at the First Baptist Church in Sandpoint.
