New Internet video service offered at library
COEUR d'ALENE - Access to Internet video websites for free is available through a new service offered by the Coeur d'Alene Public Library.
The Roku device hooks up to a television - instructions, remote, and cables provided - and does not require a computer, but it does require a wireless Internet connection.
The device can be checked out at the main checkout desk at the library for up to seven days. It comes loaded with free subscriptions to such online video services as: Netflix. Hulu Plus, Crackle, PBS Kids, and Disney.coms.
The devices were purchased through a grant from the Friends of the Library.

Fundraiser offers barbecue, music
COEUR d'ALENE - Panhandle Parks Foundation is holding a charity fundraiser barbecue competition at Coeur d'Alene City Park on Saturday.
There will be live music, bands, Smoke on the Water BBQ competition and a beer garden. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
"With all the hydro hype, perhaps they would like to come visit us after the hydro races we will be there till 8 p.m.," said Kim Stearns, executive director of the foundation.

Diaper drive to benefit Children's Village
Heart 2 Serve Coeur d'Alene, an online network aimed at letting residents know how they can help their community, will hold a diaper drive to benefit the nonprofit Children's Village today and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Volunteers will be at Walgreens stores in Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls and Hayden, Kmart and the Hayden Walmart accepting diaper donations.
