COEUR d'ALENE - The Kootenai County Backcountry Deputies and U.S. Forest Service law enforcement personnel found Mike Morehead's vehicle in the Marie Creek area near Wolf Lodge Wednesday morning.
Morehead himself, who was reported missing on Nov. 22, has not been found.
"No finds yet," said Kootenai County Sheriff Lt. Stu Miller. "The search has suspended for the night due to searcher safety."
Police will resume the search again this morning using search dogs to try and find Morehead.
Miller said the Spokane County Sheriff's helicopter was called in to join the search on Wednesday, and the road has been closed above the Marie Creek Trailhead.
"Yes, the road is blocked off. We can't have non-essential people near the scene," Miller said. "We are planning on using search dogs, and more interfering tracks, odor, et cetera in the area makes it near impossible to do a good job."
Miller said the road will be blocked off today as well.
After Morehead went missing, his phone went unused for nearly a week, but police caught a break on Monday when they found his phone was reactivated.
Using cell phone location technology they found that he was located about nine to 10 miles east of Coeur d'Alene. They first searched the Fernan Saddle area on Tuesday, but found no vehicles.
They found Morehead's 2006 Gray Dodge R25 pickup several miles up Marie Creek Road Wednesday morning and began setting a search perimeter.
