COEUR d'ALENE - More than $180,491 was raised and at least $172,999 was spent in the Coeur d'Alene city elections this year, according to 30-day post election filings turned in Thursday.

Those final numbers are actually going to be greater, as candidates Amber Copeland and Chris Fillios missed the filing deadline Thursday afternoon, along with two political action committees.

Of the total amount reported, candidates raised $142,908 and spent $138,217. PACs raised $37,583 and spent $34,782.

Two political consulting companies took a good chunk of the spending, with candidates and PACs reporting they spent $55,970 with Range NW, which is partially owned by Eden Irgens, who helped found the Balance North Idaho PAC. Another $13,183 was paid to Strategery, which is partially owned by Jeff Ward, co-founder of the Kootenai County Reagan Republicans and its Victory Fund PAC.

Mayor-elect Steve Widmyer was the biggest fundraiser in this election, reporting a final total of $40,447. He spent $38,865, and the vast majority of that - $29,645 - went to Range NW.

Widmyer's opponent, Mary Souza, was a close second in fundraising, bringing in $39,860. She spent $39,088 of that. While she did spend $6,084 with Strategery, she hired an independent campaign manager.

Joe Kunka, who also ran for mayor, raised $2,500 and spent it all.

Councilwoman-elect Amy Evans raised more than any other council candidate. She reported raising $17,874, and spent $14,948. Range NW got $10,965 of that.

Coucilwoman-elect Kiki Miller was close behind Evans with $16,857 raised, and $15,441 spent. She paid Range NW $4,687.

Councilman Woody McEvers raised $10,449, and spent $10,412. He paid Range NW $37.

Noel Adams raised $8,030 and spent $9,646. He reported $2,400 in debits, and paid Strategery $3,839.

Sharon Hebert raised a total of $6,327 and spent $5,337. She reported debits of $2,419 and spent $4,957 with Stategery.

Gary Herfurth spent a total of $564 of his own money during the campaign.

Of the PACs, Balance North Idaho raised the most money during the campaign, reporting $13,899 raised, and $11,147 spent. It paid Range NW $9,492.

Reclaim North Idaho PAC raised $6,150, and spent it all supporting candidates.

The Coeur d'Alene Fire PAC raised and spent $5,000 on supporting candidates.

Reagan Republicans Victory Fund raised $2,764 and spent $2,715, with $2,451 of that going to Strategery.

Truth North Idaho raised $1,670 and spent it all.

Kootenai County Fire and Rescue 2856 Local PAC Municipal raised $1,600 and spent it supporting candidates.

Professional Firefighters of Idaho failed to file its 30-day post election report, as did the Coeur d'Alene Peace Officers Association PAC.
