Larry P. Evans, 68

Larry P. “Precious” Evans, 68, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son and brother, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away December 4, 2013 at the Hospice House in Hayden, Idaho.

He was born September 3, 1945 in Picher, Oklahoma; Larry was the son of MacArthur and Evadna (McBrien) Evans. Larry moved to the Silver Valley with his family in 1948 from Oklahoma. He attended schools here in the Silver Valley; while attending Junior High and High School, Larry was known as a great and outstanding boxer, and was awarded the Golden Gloves Boxing award.

Larry married Irene L. Rainio on July 18, 1964 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Larry was a very respected and admired miner of forty-eight years. Many men, young and old, learned and trained in mining with Larry. He mined in Grants, New Mexico, Alaska, Montana and Washington. Larry worked thirty plus years at the Sunshine Mining Company and ten plus years at the Galena Mine and the Coeur, where he served as foreman.

Larry was a member of the NRA. He loved and enjoyed his family who were number one to him; he also enjoyed his animals and his motorcycles. Just this year, Larry took a trip on his Harley with his son John back to Sturgis.

Larry is survived by his wife Irene Evans; three children: Brenda (John) Lyon of Kellogg, Idaho; Lisa Beeler of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and John (Lyndia) Evans of Pinecreek-Pinehurst, Idaho; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; his mother Evadna Evans of Kellogg; brother Don Evans of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; and sister Barbara Chambers of Las Vegas, Nevada; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his father, and his brother Richard Evans.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Silver Valley Worship Center in Smelterville, Idaho with Pastor Corey Berti officiating. A reception and gathering of family and friends will be held at the church following services.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Shoshone Humane Society, P.O. Box 1005, Kellogg, Idaho 83837, or to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 Government Way, Hayden, Idaho 83835.
