Sentinel, Columbia Falls finish 1-2 at Polson Invitational wrestling

POLSON — Missoula Sentinel had four individual champions and claimed the team title at the Polson Invitational wrestling tournament on Saturday.

The Spartans finished with a 183 team total.

Individual winners for Sentinel were Jake Hegel (106), Dylan Schulte (132), Jayden Wilson (220) and Colin Hammock (heavyweight).

Columbia Falls, led by individual champions Shonn Roberts (126) and Bryan Shaffer (152), finished a strong second with a 149.5 score.

Corvallis, 146, was third and Eureka, 110, fourth.

Eureka had back-to-back winners with Garrett White (113) and Zach Durden (120). Wyatt Miller (160) finished second for the Lions.

Polson was sixth, 97, and Glacier seventh, 92.

Polson’s Tele Seeman (182) and Glacier’s Justin Gibson (98) both finished second.

Glacier’s Jacob Ferkin (160) and Zach Dennehy (heavyweight) were both third.

“We got rid of the tournament jitters and the kids competed well,” Glacier coach Ross Dankers said.

“We got a few matches in. It was like a mini-quiz for us to see where we are at.”

Glacier is back in action Thursday with a dual at Missoula Big Sky, followed by the Mining City Duals in Butte on Friday and Saturday.
