MOSES LAKE - The Columbia Basin Allied Arts is bringing the world's longest running classic musical, as well as an internationally renowned piano trio, to Moses Lake in January and February.

"The Fantisticks," which ran for more than 52 years in Manhattan, is set for 7 p.m. on Jan. 21 at Big Bend Community College's Wallenstein Theater.

According to the Allied Arts website, this funny and romantic musical follows a boy's imagination as he moves into a world of moonlight, magic and fantasy. The boy and a girl fall in love, grow apart and finally find their way back to each other after railing the truth in the words that "without a hurt, the heart is hollow."

Allied Arts Executive Director Pat Daugherty said the show is great for the entire family.

The book and lyrics are by Tom Jones with music by Harvey Scmidt, including "Try to Remember," "They Were You," and "Soon It's Gonna Rain."

In February, the Allied Arts presents The Volta Piano Trio, one of the Pacific Northwest's premier chamber ensembles, Daugherty said.

The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Feb. 15, also at the Wallenstein Theater.

The trio, formerly known as the Icicle Creek Piano Trio, originate from the U.S., United Kingdom and Russia, and include Jennifer Caine, violinist, Sally Singer, cellist, and Oksana Ezhokina, piano.

Daugherty said the Allied Arts wanted to offer a variety of shows for this year's season.

The group previously performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Alice Tully Hall and The Royal Albert Hall in London, and have toured in Austria, Germany, France, Italy and the U.K., as well as several locations in the Northwest and California, Daugherty said.

Tickets are either $30, $25, or $15 depending on where the seats are located.
