Resident of Coeur D'Alene since 1996, passed away peacefully following a stroke on Dec. 5, 2013, in Coeur d’Alene. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 12, 1921, Helen was an honor student in high school, and an accomplished pianist.

She moved to Southern California in the 1940s where she married, raised a family, and was a long-time employee of the Federal Reserve Bank. While in Los Angeles, she belonged to clubs and societies, where she always had many friends, and was a frequent attendee at all the arts: musical theater, opera, painting, dance. After retiring, she devoted herself to another passion: travel. Among the places she visited were Europe, the Caribbean, New York, Alaska, Hawaii, and many national parks.

She relocated to Idaho to join her son in 1996 following the death of her husband, made many more friends, and became a lead singer in the Sweet Adelines International barbershop singers. Singing and performing with the Adelines became her great passion, and literally took her all over the world. She performed with them until no longer physically able to do so.

Helen was always happy giving of her time and abilities to all of her friends and endeavors, but was reluctant to ask for much in return. She was blessed with many wonderful friends, and never forgot how fortunate she was to have them. Helen leaves behind a loving son and daughter, along with many others whose lives she touched. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Yates Funeral Homes Hayden Chapel.
