Madeline Johnson, 89, of Libby

Madeline M. Johnson, 89, a longtime Libby resident, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at her home in Libby.  

She was born July 11, 1924, in Orange, Mass., to Maurice andBessie Trombley.  

Madeline grew up in Massachusetts and attended high school in Springfield.  Madeline met the love of her life, Clarence Johnson, while working as a waitress in Florida during World War II.  They moved to Libby in 1945. Madeline worked as a bartender for many years at Happy’s Inn and at the Troy VFW.  

Her husband, Clarence, and a son, Dan, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her three children George (Darlene) Johnson of Kalispell, Nancy (Jack) Cotter of Otis Orchard, Wash., John Johnson of Post Falls, Idaho; 11 grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, Laura, Kevin, Dean, Curtis, John, Marrissa, Emma, Shawn, Molly; and seven great-grandchildren.

Service will be held at a later date.  

Local arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
