The Met: Live in HD series continues on the big screen with Verdi’s “Falstaff.”

Music director James Levine conducts the opera for the first time at the Met since 2005. Robert Carsen’s production — the first new Met “Falstaff” since 1964 — is set in the English countryside in the mid-20th century. Ambrogio Maestri sings the title role of the blustery Sir John Falstaff, opposite a marvelous ensemble that includes Angela Meade, Stephanie Blythe, Lisette Oropesa and Franco Vassallo.

The live transmission begins at 10:55 a.m. Saturday at Kalispell’s Stadium 14 theater, with an encore performance at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

“Falstaff” will be screened at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Dec. 27.

For tickets to the Kalispell screenings, visit www.cinemark.com or call Stadium 14 at 752-7804.

For tickets and additional information about the Whitefish show, call Carol Atkinson at 862-7591. The performing arts center will be open one hour before performances. Tickets are available with cash or check at the door.

This season, The Met: Live in HD series will reach an audience of approximately 3 million people across 1,900 theaters in 64 countries and offer subtitles in nine languages, including Swedish for the first time. The 2013-14 HD season continues with six other live transmissions.
