Chiefs bowling breaks 900-point mark

YAKIMA - Moses Lake bowling coach Billy Brice had been waiting all season for his team to bowl at this level.
After an erratic start to Tuesday's match against Eisenhower, Brice challenged the team to stop bowling down to their competition and start bowling to their potential.
The Chiefs responded with the highest score the Columbia Basin Big 9 had seen this season. A gaudy 933 pins in the second game against the Cadets that saw four of five Chiefs bowl above their average.
"They just went nuts," Brice said. "As a coach I'm just beside myself."
Moses Lake cruised to a 3-1 victory against Eisenhower and improved to 2-1 in the Big 9 and 5-1 overall.
Brice said his team started slow in the first game, but Moses Lake was still able to hang on to win 745-716. Kim Muldner led the team with a score of 172. Mikayla Moreno and Kayla Steffler added scores of 157 and 150, respectively.
Brice pointed to Moreno's five spares in a row to end her game that helped secure the win for the Chiefs.
The Chiefs began game two on a torrid pace with 19 marks in the first 20 frames. Steffler was the high scorer with 213 with Ashleigh Hash close behind at 193. Kayla Enriguez scored 191, Muldner tallied 180 and Moreno added 156.
The team sent a message in game two blowing out the Cadets, 933-748.
"933 will turn heads anywhere around the league," Brice said."
With this type of performance coming about halfway through the season, Brice said shooting 1,000 isn't out of the picture for his team.
The Chiefs secured the win with a 178-126 mark in the first Baker game.
Moses Lake hosts Davis today at Lake Bowl. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
"I'm looking hopefully to keep pace," Brice said.
