QUINCY - The arrest of a man for domestic violence recently led to the discovery of an illegal marijuana growing operation and additional charges.

Grant County's Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team and deputies from the Grant County Sheriff's Office made the marijuana arrest after it was discovered that the residence contained quantities of marijuana in excess of the valid medical marijuana documentation provided. ?

Lorenzo R. Barajas, 40, of Quincy, was arrested for suspicion of fourth-degree assault/domestic violence, suspicion of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and manufacture of marijuana. ?

Deputies went to the home in the 800 block of Road H NE at around 4 p.m. Nov. 30 to investigate a complaint of domestic violence. While at the scene, Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones said, deputies saw in plain view several Mason jars of what appeared to be marijuana.

INET detectives were called, served a search warrant on the property and vehicles at the home, and ended up finding 89 separate jars or containers of marijuana. The combined weight of the harvested marijuana neared 17 pounds with a street value of about $13,500. INET also seized 60 rooted marijuana plants. ??

“What was found here went far above and beyond the permitted medical and recreational possession limits in the State of Washington,” Jones said. “The work of our INET and Grant County Deputies is persistently paying off by getting these illegal growing operations out of our communities.”
