CHRISTMAS: Keep it joyous in Cd'A
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years, 5 months AGO
What has happened to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho? My husband and I moved here with our young family in 1970. It was a wonderful town with kind and caring people. At Christmas time we would go through the stores as we did our shopping and admire all the beautiful decorations. “Merry Christmas” was displayed in every window. People were happy and excited about Christmas. Our children grew up with an understanding that Christmas was truly a magical time of year.
One night recently my husband and I noticed that not one store in Coeur d’Alene had “Merry Christmas” in the window. It seems the true meaning of Christmas has evaded us this year. How we have changed over the years. What a different town from the one we moved to so many years ago.
We don’t live in L.A., New York or other troubled parts of the country. We choose to live here in God’s country. In beautiful Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, still a small town with wonderful people.
The true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus, God’s greatest gift to mankind. I urge you to take your Bible and read Matthew, Mark or Luke. It will share the true meaning of Christmas, and the story doesn’t end there. This baby grows up to do some amazing, wonderful things for you and for me. I sincerely hope that God will bless each of you this year with peace, joy and a very “Merry Christmas!”
