Trustees to narrow field for interviews

 The Kalispell Public Schools Board of Trustees on Tuesday will select finalists to interview for the district superintendent job.

Nine candidates are being considered for the position held by Darlene Schottle: 

— Deborah Akers, a superintendent in Princeton, W. Va.

— Gary Carpenter, a high school principal in Elmira, Ore.

— Randy Cline, a superintendent from Frenchtown.

— Mark Flatau, a superintendent in Cle Elum, Wash.

— Glenn Gelbrich, a superintendent in Juneau, Alaska.

— Kim Harding, a superintendent and principal in Sheridan, Mont.

— Thomas Moore, an assistant superintendent in Great Falls.

— Peter Mortenson, a middle school principal in Bridgton, Maine.

— JT Stroder, a superintendent in Gardiner.

Schottle is resigning June 30 at the end of this school year.  

The Kalispell superintendent position was advertised with a salary of $125,000 plus benefits, depending on experience.

The school board is expected to pick finalists during the meeting that starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Kalispell Middle School Library.

Interviews with finalists are scheduled Jan. 13 and 14.
