• Firefighters to escort Santa through
COEUR d'ALENE - This week, kids in Coeur d'Alene will get to see Santa in the streets of our community, and yes, his sleigh will be a big red fire engine.
Santa and members of the Coeur d'Alene Firefighters Local 710 will be around town this week collecting food and cash donations for the food bank. Below is a schedule and geographic region they will be each evening:
* Thursday, Dec. 19: West of Seventh Street, south of Appleway Avenue.
* Friday, Dec. 20: East of Seventh Street, south of Appleway Avenue.
* Saturday, Dec. 21: East of Highway 95, north of Appleway Avenue.
* Sunday, Dec. 22: West of Highway 95, north of Appleway Avenue and South of Dalton Avenue.
* Monday, Dec. 23: West of Highway 95, north of Dalton Avenue and south of Prairie Avenue.
Santa will keep you posted as to his location. When you see flashing red lights and hear Christmas music, come out and donate a can of food, let the kids say hello to Santa and the firefighters and get a candy cane or other surprises from Santa.
Santa's journey will last from 4:30 - 8:30 each evening. Don't forget to track Santa at www.cdafire.org/santa.html.
• Cd'A Man dies, pinned under forklift in Boise
BOISE (AP) - A Caldwell man has died after being pinned beneath a forklift behind one of the state Capitol buildings in downtown Boise.
Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower says it appears the man was operating a forklift as it was being unloaded from a trailer and that he fell out of it when it tipped over. The accident was reported at 9:50 a.m. Monday behind the Joe R. Williams Building.
Ada County Coroner Erin Sonnenberg said the victim was 51-year-old Todd L. Wolf.
Wolf was an employee of Pacific Steel and Recycling. He and two co-workers were at the state building to move furniture when the accident happened.
