WENATCHEE - Moses Lake boys swim came away with a road win over Wenatchee 125-80 in its first dual of the season.

The team has now qualified for state in seven of 12 events.

"This was expected to be the toughest meet of the dual meet season for the Chiefs," head coach Tony St. Onge said. "Wenatchee is always a tough team and it was at their home pool."

Brenden Eslick qualified for state in two more events, the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly. Zack Johnston also qualified for state in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1 minute, 50.5 seconds.

"This meet gave us a chance to shake out the cobwebs and get into league competition," St. Onge said. "It gave us a chance to find out our strengths and weaknesses. It mostly showed that we just simply need to get into some training and conditioning so that our endurance in any event improves."

Kaelan Connacher placed first in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. Eslick placed first in the 200-yard individual medley, Madison Molitor won the 50-yard freestyle and Zack Johnston took first in the 200-yard freestyle.

Tristiane Randall won the diving competition. The Chiefs also had 12 swimmers qualify for the district meet.

Another goal Moses Lake accomplished against Wenatchee was winning all three relays. The Chiefs took first place in the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestlye relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Moses Lake is back at home Thursday to face Eisenhower, Davis and Sunnyside.

The meet is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start at Moses Lake High School.
