Coeur d'Alene girls begin road trip with easy victory

BURLINGTON, Wash. - Bella Hermesch had eight points and nine rebounds off the bench, and the Coeur d'Alene Vikings rolled to a 68-33 victory over the Burlington-Edison Tigers, a Washington class 2A team, on Thursday night.

Sydney Williams scored 21 points and Sydni Parker had 10 points and five assists for Coeur d'Alene (8-1), which travels to Lake Stevens (Wash.) on Saturday.

"I thought we rebounded really well in the second half," Coeur d'Alene assistant coach Lindsey Stark said. "We played really good defense to hold them to under 10 points in each quarter and it was good to get everyone some playing time tonight."

Edie Breckenridge scored 13 points for Burlington-Edison (4-3).

PLUMMER - Morgan Hill scored the go-ahead basket with 16 seconds left as the visiting Miners beat the Knights in a North Star League game.

Lakeside rallied from a 32-22 halftime deficit to tie the game at 43 with 4:16 remaining. Both teams went scoreless until Hill's basket late in the game.

"It was a really good game," Lakeside assistant coach Sheldon Pine said. "Neither team scoring late was kind of crazy."

Francine Hendrickx scored 10 points and Lillian Rhea had 14 rebounds for Lakeside (3-6, 1-1 NSL), which faces Newport today at 4 p.m. in the Priest River Christmas tournament.

Jordan Browning scored 12 points for Wallace (8-3, 3-0), which hosts Lakeside on Jan. 9.

LIBERTY LAKE - Shannon Kempton scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds, pacing the Lions past The Oaks in Mountain Christian League action at the HUB Sports Center.

Hope Sasseli finished with eight points and five steals for Christian Center (3-1, 2-0 MCL), and Jaicie Purvis added 10 points.

Christian Center plays Kootenai Thunder on Saturday in Cocolalla.

PULLMAN - After trailing by as many as 12 points, Genesis Prep led by as much as 10 points before holding on to beat Pullman Christian as the Jaguars won their first Mountain Christian League game of the season.

Clayton Gifford had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Ty Brearley had 11 points and 10 boards for Genesis Prep (3-5, 1-5 MCL).

Genesis Prep returns to action Jan. 7 at home vs. Columbia River Christian Academy of Kettle Falls, Wash.
