Karen Ulmer, director of the Columbians, addresses the assembled students at Helena Flats School on Friday, December 20. In the background are members of the Columbians, the premiere band at Columbia Falls, and students from the band at Helena Flats. Sally Newberry, band director at Helena Flats said she approached Ulmer about having some of her students join with the Columbians earlier in the year. "This has been the best field trip, the best experience," said Newberry. Newberry hopes to make this an annual event. (Brenda Ahearn/Daily Inter Lake)
