RITZVILLE - A Montana woman was killed in a nine-car pileup on Interstate 90 seven miles east of Ritzville Friday.

Jean B. Amidon, 52, of Whitefish, Mont., died at the scene after she hit a tractor-trailer stopped for collisions on westbound I-90, according to a Washington State Patrol news release. Amidon's 2011 Honda Pilot was then struck by a third vehicle, which caused a chain reaction, resulting in the pileup.

Speed was a factor in the crash, which occurred at 12:46 p.m. Friday, according to the release.

Eleven people, including Amidon, were involved in the crash. Four people were injured and transported to East Adams Rural Hospital, according to WSP.

In addition, eight vehicles were towed from the scene.
