MOSES LAKE - Grant County law enforcement is still searching for Gilbert Williamson, who was named a person of interest in the Dec. 11 attempted murder of a Moses Lake man.

Williamson, 46, of Moses Lake, was allegedly driving when Jordan S. Wiester, 21, Jose Rivera, 16 and the victim, Dale Olmos, 28, left a Moses Lake home the night of Dec. 10 and drove out to a field near Hiawatha Road and Road 5 Northeast, according to court records.

At some point, Wiester, Rivera and Olmos exited the vehicle and began arguing. Wiester allegedly returned to the vehicle, grabbed a pistol from the glove compartment and shot Olmos in the side of the head before returning to the car and leaving, court records state.

Wiester and Rivera were charged with first-degree attempted murder with premeditation. Wiester was also charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

Olmos was found about 8 a.m. Dec. 11 and lost a large amount of blood. He was reportedly able to speak but difficult to understand. He was later transported to an undisclosed hospital, where staff told deputies they are concerned for his recovery because the bullet had passed through the front part of his brain, according to court records.

The shooting reportedly stemmed from a cellphone Olmos allegedly stole from Rivera's girlfriend the night of the incident.

Detectives located a .380 caliber bullet casing near where Olmos was found. They also found a backpack with a piece of paper inside with Wiester's name and phone number written down, according to court records.

Detectives also found a Facebook post on Wiester's page Dec. 11 that stated: "It sure would suck to b out in the freezing cold helpless N alone ha u got me [expletive] up home boi."

A person who knows Rivera told authorities Rivera was allegedly trying to sell a gun for $100 just days after the shooting, according to court records.

After he was arrested, Wiester allegedly admitted to being with Williamson, Rivera and Olmos the night of the shooting and had driven out in the county when they stopped. Wiester allegedly said they got out of the vehicle and Rivera shot Olmos in the back of the head, according to court records.

Bail was set at $1 million for both Wiester and Rivera.
