MOSES LAKE - After a month of effort, Bud Clary of Moses Lake and the Columbia Basin Herald were happy to hand off checks of $5,000 to four local charities recently.

The celebration came after Bud Clary of Moses Lake donated $100 from every car sold from Nov. 15 through Dec. 19, when Bud Clary held a gathering at their Automall facility, catered by the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Raffle winners claimed prizes including boat tours, golf packages, and vacations at The Coeur d'Alene Resort.

The real winners of the night were the four charities including Boys and Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin, Serve Moses Lake, New Hope Agency and Moses Lake Food Bank, which received the generous donation.

Columbia Basin Herald Publisher Harlan Beagley reminded the crowd that the businesses could not have raised the money without the help of the generous community who shop local.

Bud Clary general managers Chuck Wade and Vonn Jones were there to shake hands of the recipients, and to assure the group their business is here to stay and concerned for the wellbeing of the community.

"This was a great success for this community," Wade said, "This is the time of year for giving."
