WILMINGTON, Del. - The Hoover Vikings of North Canton (Ohio) scored the final seven points of the game on Friday night to hold off the Coeur d'Alene Vikings 62-56 in the opening round of the St. Francis Healthcare Cup of the Diamond State Classic on Friday at St. Elizabeth High.

Coeur d'Alene led 56-55, but were unable to score late after Brittany Tackett fouled out and the Vikings were unable to call a late timeout after the referee didn't grant coach Dale Poffenorth's request, forcing Coeur d'Alene to foul.

"It was a down to the wire game, but we just couldn't complete it," Poffenroth said. "It was really a knock down, drag out game and played more physical than we're used to."

Sydney Williams had 20 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots for Coeur d'Alene (9-2), which faces Central Dauphin High (Pa.) on Sunday at 11:15 a.m. PST.
