Adam Capaul, 27
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years AGO
Adam Michael Capaul, age 27, of Longview, Wash., passed away Dec. 21, 2013 in Longview. He was born Sept. 10, 1986, in Coeur d’Alene to Ken and Toni (Reid) Capaul. Adam grew up in Coeur d’Alene and graduated with honors from Lake City High School in 2004 where he played on the baseball and basketball teams. As a pitcher, he received a baseball scholarship to Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, Wash., and graduated in 2006 with an Associates degree. Adam went on to graduate from the University of Idaho in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Following college, Adam coached Legion baseball and worked as a caddy at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course. He has worked the last three years as a chemical engineer at Kapstone, a paper products manufacturer in Longview, Washington.
Words don’t quite do justice to the impact Adam had on people’s lives. Adam’s smile was unforgettable, as well as the huge personality behind it. At first glance you couldn’t help but notice how big and tall Adam was. After getting to know Adam you immediately realized he had a big enough heart to match.
Adam was a member of many communities. It was in the arena of sports and athletics where Adam had the opportunity to demonstrate his hard work and dedication (mixed in with more than a few rolled ankles). On the field and on the court “ABOMB” would forge lasting friendships and bonds that stand to this day. Adam also belonged to a vast community of friends off the field. They got to be witness to the uncontrollable joy and laughter Adam possessed.
The characteristics that Adam embodied were in no small part due to the love and support of his parents. His ambitious work ethic is attributable to his father, Ken, always making sure to put his son in a position where he knew he would succeed. The influence of his mother and number one fan, Toni, was apparent in his selflessness and joy that he brought to countless people. Ken and Toni were so very proud of the fine young man that Adam would and had become.
Never forgotten is Adam’s younger brother and best friend, Alex. Through all the in-school and after-school hazing, Alex would always have a loving and proud older brother in Adam.
Adam is survived by his parents, Ken and Toni Capaul; his brother, Alex Capaul; grandparents, Marge Capaul, Ray and Betty Capaul, and Tom and Dixie Reid; uncles and aunts, Diana Guild (Scott) of Coeur d’Alene, Robert Capaul (Eleanora) of Coeur d’Alene, Kathy Capaul of Coeur d’Alene, Dorothy Ladewig (Mark) of Rathdrum, Raini Cherry (Sean) of Coeur d’Alene, Mike Reid (Amber) of Dania Beach, Fla., Chris Copstead of Coeur d’Alene; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Debbie Copstead.
A memorial mass will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene with Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene, in care of the arrangements.
