OTHELLO – Four people from western Washington were sent to the local hospital on Dec. 13 when an attempt to pass went awry.

The one-car accident occurred at about 4 p.m. after driver Alexander G. Bahm, 21, Seattle, tried to make a pass on Highway 26 about two miles west of Othello. Westbound, Bahm pulled into the eastbound lane only to find an eastbound vehicle already attempting a pass.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Bahm then swerved his 1999 Toyota 4 Runner to the right, over-corrected to the left and lost control. The Toyota left the roadway to the left, rolled multiple times and came to rest 100 feet off the roadway across a fence.

Bahm was wearing a seat belt. So were his passengers, all age 19. Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved, the WSP said. All four occupants were transported by ambulance to Othello Community Hospital.
