Lance James Walden Sr., 71

On the evening of Dec. 26, 2013, Lance James Walden Sr. passed away at Kalispell Medical Center with his daughters by his side, after a year-long battle with cancer. Lance was 71 years old.

Lance was born Jan. 21, 1942, in Port Angeles, Wash., but was raised in Montana. In high school, Lance won the Golden Gloves Championship. He was an avid trap shooter and won many trophies. 

Lance was a talented musician and artist, a hard -working logger, truck driver and farmer. He recently retired as a chip truck driver for Hanson Trucking in Columbia Falls. 

Lance had a love for horse racing, camping, four-wheeling and hunting. He enjoyed any activity outdoors. Lance liked to keep life simple. He was always willing to help family, friends and neighbors anytime he could. Lance was a loving father and son.

Lance was preceded in death by his son, Lance Jr.; his “Pop” Boyd Blackmer; and his stepsister, Phyllis. 

Lance is survived by his two daughters, Loree Duchesne and Tony, and Darla; grandchildren, Anthony Helland and Ariel Duchesne; brother, Robert, and Lorraine; nieces, Julie Foster and Dave, and Vickie Mode and Jim; and mother, Lorraine.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial will be held in Kalispell in the spring, with burial at Fairview Cemetery.
