WILSON CREEK - Wilson Creek District Superintendent Brad Smedley resigned recently.

Smedley had been on administrative leave pending investigation for reasons that are still undisclosed. "Mr. Smedley has resigned his position as superintendent with the Wilson Creek School District," read a statement released by Wilson Creek School Board chair Paul Friend Wednesday. "The board will work with Rich McBride of the North Central Washington Education Service District to determine the best way to fill the post." Friend declined further comment.

Smedley was not immediately available for comment Wednesday.

The board will meet with McBride Feb. 5 to determine whether to look for an interim superintendent or a permanent replacement, Friend said. Meanwhile, elementary school principal Brenda Welch will be the acting superintendent.
