Gracie Virginia Price, age 90, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at the Pinewood Care Center in Coeur d’Alene, where she resided the last four years. She was born March 27, 1922, to Richard and Vernice Gillilan in Waltman, Wyo.
Gracie’s family moved to Sandpoint around 1929, and she grew up enjoying school and community activities. Gracie graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1940, then worked on post-baccalaureate studies until she went to work as a civilian clerk/typist at the U.S. Naval Training Station at Farragut in 1942.
On Oct. 1, 1944, Gracie married Herbert “Lonnie” Price of Edgemere, Idaho, who was home on leave from the United States Marine Corps. They eventually settled in Dalton Gardens to raise all five of their children. After several years as a homemaker, Gracie worked fifteen years as an assembler, machine operator, and keyboard line lead for the Post Falls manufacturing company known as Clare Pendar, C.P Clare, and eventually General Instrument Corporation.
In the mid-1980s Gracie and Lonnie moved to their small ranch home in the Edgemere/Vay community of Priest River. They lived many happy years there before moving to Oak Crest to be closer to their children. Lonnie passed away in January 2003. Gracie stayed at Oak Crest for a couple of years, before moving to the Loyalton Assisted Living Facility in 2007, and then to Pinewood Care Center.
