The Daily Inter Lake | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 11 years, 11 months AGO
Ella Mae Pisk, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Feb. 2, 2013.
She was born on May 20, 1927, to Ammon and Anna Chupp in Bloomfield, Mont. She spent her girlhood on a farm and attended school in Bloomfield and graduated from Dawson County High School in Glendive. She played piano in a band with the brothers of Peter Pisk. She was an eager dancer and was always ready for a pinochle game.
She married Peter Pisk on April 11, 1946, and they shared 67 wonderful years. After the wedding they lived at the pumping station plant on the Yellowstone River near Fallon for two years, then they moved to Portland, where Pete attended chiropractic college and, after graduation, they settled in Kalispell in October 1953.
Summers she loved to sit on the deck of the Bitterroot cabin and watch her children and their friends play on the beach and in the water. Later, came the delight of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Evenings included a wonderful meal with homemade ice cream followed by a campfire and a rambunctious card game which she always managed to win. Holiday dinners, for any number of people, meant homemade rolls, pies (especially apple), and all the fixins’. She took great pride in knowing that everyone was well fed and ate more than a full share of her famous cinnamon rolls.
She loved working in her yard and was particularly proud of her carnations, roses and peonies and that they attracted visiting hummingbirds.
She enjoyed visits to the families in Eastern Montana to see all the nieces and nephews. It was good to be back on the plains of home, but she had come to love the mountains and was eager to get back to Kalispell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Francine and Audrey; and a brother, Gene.
She is survived by her husband, Peter; her sister, Melva Mika; sister-in-law, Darlane Pisk; numerous nieces and nephews; and her children, Peggy Lake and Dave, and children, Matthew and Janice, Andrew and Craig; Pam Warburton and Rick, and children, Lynsey and Tyler and Kayla; Chuck and Jeannette, and children, Mallory Levengood and Christopher, Jackson and Paige, Truman and Kordell; Greg and Julie, and children, Adam, Bailey, Riley and Spencer; and Kelly Nesten and Rob, and children, Calen and Kelsey; and seven great-grandchildren, Maddison, Dawsen, Tucker, Carter, Scotta, Xander and Kyle.
The family of Ella Mae would like to thank the amazing staff of the Bratsberg Wing at Immanuel Lutheran. We would also like to thank hospice; we were so blessed to have you.
The family of Ella Mae Pisk invites you to join them on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home for public viewing from 3 to 5 p.m. The rosary will follow at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, at St. Matthew’s Church.
