COEUR d'ALENE - Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest has offered a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for 18 recent graffiti incidents in the city of Coeur d'Alene.

"It is just designs and scribbling," Coeur d'Alene Police Department Sgt. Christie Wood said Tuesday. She said some of the designs are similar.

"We don't have any info that gangs are involved," she said.

The vandals are using black and colored markers and spray paint, she said.

Since Dec. 1, businesses in the downtown corridor area were mostly targeted, Wood said.

Five of the 18 incidents occurred on Sherman Avenue and five occurred on either Third or Fourth Street, according to police statistics.

The most recent case was reported Tuesday morning at the City Park bandshell.

This past weekend, the rear wall of the business at 850 N. Fourth St. was hit with graffiti, according to a police report. The graffiti read "green" in black script.

The police department is seeking tips from the public to help determine who is responsible for the recent graffiti incidents.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the graffiti incident call Crime Stoppers at (208) 667-2111 or (800) 222-TIPS.

Information can be submitted online at www.crimestoppersinlandnorthwest.org. Callers are asked to use a code name or number and do not have to use their own name to be eligible for a reward.
