THOMPSON FALLS - The Thompson Falls school board met Monday night for their February meeting, and officially accepted the resignation of board vice-chair, Lance Pavlik.

Pavlik, who in January plead guilty to two counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of criminal endangerment for the accident that occurred on Prospect Creek Road in September, had been a member of the school board for several years. He also tendered his resignation as the golf coach for Thompson Falls High School.

“Lance has always been an excellent school board member and was always a very good resource,” Superintendent Jerry Pauli said. “He was a very good board member, and we understand why his resignation took place. What happened was a tragic thing for the whole community.”

The school board accepted Pavlik’s resignation from the board and as the golf coach at the meeting, the letter had been written a month ago.

The board will select someone to take Pavlik’s post as vice chair at the meeting next month. From there, that individual will be up for school board elections in May.

Pavlik is scheduled to appear in Sanders County District Court on March 12 for his sentencing.
