Adult, teen die in car-truck crash

MOSES LAKE – The Washington State Patrol reports that an adult male and teen female, both of Moses Lake, died on Jan. 26 in a car-truck crash four miles north of Moses Lake.

The cause of the accident was still under investigation on Jan. 26. It was unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved. The collision occurred at around 9 a.m.

The state patrol reported only that the southbound truck was attempting to make a left turn from Highway 17 onto Northlake Road NE and was struck in front by the northbound car in the northbound lane.

The driver of the car, a 1958 blue Ford Thunderbird, was Christian G. Schuermann, 40, of Moses Lake. He died at the scene. It was unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt. The car was totaled and needed to be hauled away.

A passenger in the Thunderbird, Aschlie Schuermann, 13, of Moses Lake, also died at the scene. It was unknown if she was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the 1995 Peterbilt semi truck with two flatbed trailers was Orvil L. Magruder, 31, of Ellensburg. He was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured. The truck was towed away.
