Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years, 11 months AGO
Police detectives released an artist rendering based on victim recollection of the male suspect involved in an attempted rape that occurred Jan. 11.
In that incident, a 21-year-old woman reported to police that she had just been attacked around 10:45 p.m. by a man while walking in the area of west Hubbard Avenue and north College Drive, Coeur d'Alene police said.
The suspect is a 5-foot-9 white man with average build, 35-40 years old, with blondish-red facial hair, with a mustache and stubble. He was wearing a brown Carhartt-type jacket, gray beanie hat, and boots.
The victim told police she was walking to catch a bus near west Hubbard Avenue and North Idaho College Drive about 10:45 p.m. Jan. 11 when a man approached her.
According to a news release, the man spoke to the victim and followed her down the sidewalk. The woman said when she slowed to look at him, he grabbed her from behind and tried to drag her to the ground.
"The victim said the male attempted to sexually assault her, and she was fighting him off," the release said. "She said she saw headlights from a vehicle coming from the roundabout area and he jumped up and ran away."
The woman, who lives in the downtown area, boarded the bus and told the driver what happened.
He drove her to a Sherman Avenue bar, where she called police.
