EPHRATA - Grant County PUD commissioners announced the appointment of Tony Webb as the new general manager for the agency Monday.

Webb has been serving as interim general manager since June. His appointment will be effective once the board takes formal action during their next meeting on Feb. 11.

Commissioners also set the general manager's salary at approximately $245,000 a year during Monday's meeting.

According to commissioners, about 51 candidates originally applied for the position. Webb was one of five finalists, a group which also included three other internal candidates as well as an external applicant.

Board President Terry Brewer said Webb's appointment will ultimately benefit customers and employees.

"We are in a crucial time right now and Tony's proven track record is what we need moving into the future," he stated. "We believe that Tony reflects what Grant PUD is about and we are looking forward to all that his leadership will bring."

Webb has worked for the agency since 1990, according to the release. He has held various positions including director of support services, customer service and human resources.

Prior to being named interim general manager, Webb was one of the utility's assistant general managers.

Webb also holds a bachelor's degree from Eastern Washington University.

"I am ready to work with the community and employees to keep the momentum we've built these past several months," Webb stated. "We will continue to focus on our mission and the core business of serving our customers. I am looking forward to all that's ahead."
