Bravettes whip Whitefish

The Flathead girls systematically took apart Whitefish, winning 48-12 at home on Tuesday in a nonconference basketball game.
The Bravettes (8-7 overall) shot 67 percent in the first half and held the Bulldogs (1-16) to just two field goals in building a 21-point lead by halftime. Flathead kept Whitefish scoreless for the first 7:58 of the third quarter on the way to a dominant win.
“Hopefully this game gives us some confidence heading into our last few AA games,” Flathead coach Karly Tait said.
Flathead missed just five shots in the first half, getting inside the Whitefish zone to find good shots or get to the free-throw line.
“We wanted to work on our zone offense today,” Tait said.
“We also wanted to work on our field goal percentage in this game, which was better than it has been in the past.”
All but one player scored for the Bravettes, and every Flathead player saw at least 10 minutes of gameplay.
“That was awesome for all the girls to get to play,” Tait said.
“I was just really proud of them. They really pulled together and played as a team. They were looking for each other. That’s what we need to continue to do for the rest of out games this year.”
Emma Andrews led Flathead with 13 points. Ashlee Brewer and Simone Craft each had three for Whitefish.
The game was the last nonconference tilt for each squad, as the postseason gets closer.
Flathead hosts the Helena schools this weekend, with Helena High (4-11) coming in on Friday and Capital (15-1) on Saturday. Whitefish hosts Polson (6-10) on Saturday.
