MCAA Basketball: Cougars, Crusaders state champs

HELENA — The Stillwater Christian School Cougars won their third straight Montana Christian Athletic Association state basketball championship while the Flathead Valley Homeschool Crusaders captured their second title in three years on Saturday at Carroll College.

Stillwater Christian (20-2) defeated Foothills Community Christian School 56-41 in the girls championship finale.

Morgan Paolini had a double-double for SCS with 26 points and 10 rebounds. She also had a team best five steals.

Jordan Danz contributed 15 points, pulled down seven boards and had a team-high nine assists.

Flathead Valley Homeschool beat rival and defending state champion Stillwater Christian School 56-31 in the boys title matchup.

The Crusaders (23-3) were     playing in their fifth straight state championship game.

FVHS never trailed and finished the season 2-1 versus SCS.

Abram French had 16 points and blocked five shots for FVHS. Josh Jarvis added 12 points, Jake Van Buren 11 and Josiah Sheeran 10.

Stillwater was led by Josh Bray with 13 points.

The Crusaders will advance to the National Christian Home School Championships in Springfield, Mo., starting March 18.
