Dorothy Elizabeth Carroll, 92, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away peacefully Feb. 15, 2013, at Kootenai Medical Center. Dorothy was born on March 29, 1920, in St. Anthony. She was one of five children, born to Charles and Eva Hoops.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Frank and Howard and sisters, Josephine and Jane. Dorothy moved to Plummer at the age of 21 where she worked as a waitress at the Totem Inn. She married Howard Brouse in 1941 and they made their home on the family farm in Worley. She later worked at Thompson’s Café in Worley, and Leo’s Worley Club for many years. They divorced in 1973.

Dorothy loved to travel and visited most of the 50 states, Canada and Mexico, as well as, touring Europe and visiting China and Japan. She married Virgil Carroll in 1974 and they lived in Worley and Spokane. After Virgil passed away in 2001, Dorothy moved to Coeur d’Alene where she became a member of the Lutheran Church of the Master. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, lovingly known as Grandma D.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Kenneth and daughter-in-law Dottie Brouse of Worley; and her daughter, Sandra Hull of Coeur d’Alene; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
