Fourteen vying for magistrate court bench

SANDPOINT - Fourteen attorneys have applied to fill a vacancy on the magistrate court bench in Bonner County, 1st District Administrative Judge John T. Mitchell announced.

The vacancy was created by the appointment of Judge Barbara Buchanan to the 1st District Court bench. She succeeds Judge Steve Verby, who is segueing into senior status.

The following attorneys have applied to succeed Buchanan:

* Jerri Lynn Brooks - Brooks is a Coeur d'Alene attorney who serves as public defender for Kootenai County. Brooks was admitted to the state bar in 1986.

* Aaron Vance Davis - Davis is a Rexburg attorney who serves as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Madison County. He was admitted to the bar in 2006.

* Jeremy Featherston - Featherston is an attorney in private practice in Sandpoint. He was admitted to the bar in 1992.

* Valerie Elizabeth Fenton - Fenton is a deputy prosecutor for Bonner County. She was admitted to the bar in 2005.

* Suzanne Mary Fegelein - Fegelein is an attorney in private practice in Sandpoint. She was admitted to the bar in 2005.

* Tevis Hull - Hull is a Sagle attorney who serves as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Boundary County. He was admitted to the bar in 1990.

* Michael Shawn McNeely - McNeely is a private attorney who practices in Edmond, Okla. He was admitted to the Idaho State Bar in 2005.

* John Meienhofer - Meienhofer is a private attorney who practices in Boise. He was admitted to the bar in 1992.

* Kurt Merritt - Merritt is a Boise attorney who was admitted to the bar in 2012.

* Lori Tebben Meulenberg - Meulenberg is a prosecuting attorney for the city of Sandpoint. She was admitted to the bar in 1991.

* Victoria Olds - Olds is a Grangeville attorney who was admitted to the bar in 1991.

* Bryson Perkins - Perkins is a Nampa attorney who was admitted to the bar in 2006.

* Daniel Taylor - Taylor is a Hayden attorney who serves as a deputy public defender for Bonner County. He was admitted to the bar in 2005.

* Robert David Williams - Williams is a Post Falls attorney who was admitted to the state bar in 1994.

District court officials said the vacancy on the magistrate court bench will be filled on March 8. The annual salary for the position is $109,300 plus benefits.

Evaluation questionnaires on the applicants will be sent to attorneys throughout the state. The public is also invited to comment on the applicants.

Comment forms are available at 1st District Court offices at the Bonner County Administration Building and other court facilities within the district. They can also be obtained from the Office of Trial Court Administrator, 501 Government Way, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814. District court officials said a form will be available for download at www.co.bonner.id.us.

The deadline to submit comment forms to the trial court administrator is Wednesday, Feb. 20.
