Artists looking for some solitude and a place to create that’s bursting with inspirational natural beauty have until Feb. 28 to apply for the 2013 Artist-Wilderness-Connection Program.

The Flathead National Forest, Hockaday Museum of Art, Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation and the Swan Ecosystem Center invite artists to apply for the artist-in-residence project that connects artists and local communities with public lands of the Flathead National Forest in Northwest Montana.

Professional working artists of various disciplines, media and styles spend up to two weeks in a remote forest cabin on the Flathead National Forest to focus on their respective art. The program connects artists with wild lands like the Bob Marshall and Great Bear Wilderness Areas.

After completing the residency, artists select a format to share their talents and residency experience with the community and donate a representative piece of their art to the Artist-Wilderness-Connection Program. More than 25 artists have participated in the program since its start in 2004.

Applications and information about the program are available at www.hockaday museum.org under “Artist Opportunities.” Individuals and group collaborations are invited to apply.

For additional details about the program, contact Teresa Wenum at the Flathead National Forest, 758-5218, or Liz Moss at the Hockaday Museum of Art, 755-5268.
