Cardboard with an estimated value of $10,000 was reported stolen from a Coeur d'Alene store.

According to a police report, 100 bales of cardboard worth $100 each were taken from the rear of the Fred Meyer store, 560 W. Kathleen Ave.

The thefts are believed to have taken place between Jan. 7 and Jan. 21.

The Walmart in Hayden, about 3 or 4 miles north of the Fred Meyer store, reported $5,400 of cardboard was taken on two separate dates.

A Fred Meyer employee said they realized the cardboard was missing after reading about the theft at Walmart in The Press.

Whoever stole the bails of cardboard had to use a forklift and have a truck large enough to place them on, the employee told police.
