Police calls: Scam claims Obama will deliver $1M prize

Monday, Feb. 11

10:42 a.m. A delivered package was reported stolen from a home on Columbia Avenue.

1:47 p.m. A pair of skis were reported stolen at the ski joring event in January.

Tuesday, Feb. 12

8:07 a.m. A resident on Railway Street reported kids acting suspiciously in the trees.

10:05 p.m. A woman on State Park Road was taking the trash out when a small dog ran into her house.

Wednesday, Feb. 13

1:54 a.m. Residents on Dakota Avenue reported an intoxicated man passed out in their hot tub.

7:06 p.m. Possible child abuse was reported on Hospital Way. A caller reportedly witnessed a woman smack a child several times and say, “I wish you would die.”

Thursday, Feb. 14

9:41 a.m. Vitamins and medicine were reported stolen on Lupfer Avenue.

11:24 a.m. A man on Wisconsin Avenue reported receiving threatening text messages from two women in Columbia Falls who allegedly said they would cut and kill him.

2:29 p.m. A little dog covered in snow was at large on Fox Hollow Lane.

4:09 p.m. Road rage was reported on Big Mountain. A man said he passed another vehicle on Big Mountain Road, and a rock flew up and broke their windshield. The other driver followed the man, then kicked a hole in his tail light.

5 p.m. A resident on Stumptown Loop said her neighbor’s dog was defecating in their yard and that the owner refused to pick it up. The resident offered a bag to the dog owner to pick up the poop, but the neighbor refused and reportedly called the woman a stupid tourist. The neighbor was advised of the city ordinance.

10:37 p.m. A woman on Locarno Drive said her boyfriend was scaring her.

Friday, Feb. 15

12:06 a.m. A vehicle was left in the ditch on Texas Avenue.

9:23 a.m. A woman on East 4th Street received a phone call stating she won $1 million and that the prize would be delivered at 11 a.m. The man on the phone claimed to be President Obama.

1:48 p.m. Possible DUI was reported on Shiloh Avenue. A man was seen driving in the center lane.

4:55 p.m. A teenage girl was bit by a black lab on Fir Avenue while walking home from school.

10:45 p.m. People were being loud and drinking at a hotel on Spokane Avenue.

11:04 p.m. A man in a beanie hat refused to leave the basement of a business on Central Avenue.

11:09 p.m. An intoxicated man attempted to break into a vehicle on Baker Avenue.

Saturday, Feb. 16

12:55 a.m. A man was crawling in the middle of East First Street.

12:58 a.m. A disorderly man hit three people on Central Avenue.

7:25 a.m. A man told police he had an argument with The Ride Guy.

Sunday, Feb. 17

12:41 a.m. An intoxicated man was taken to the hospital.

1:08 a.m. A vehicle was in the ditch in East Edgewood Drive.

Monday, Feb. 18

3:02 a.m. An intoxicated man in a black suit walking on U.S. 93 South was acting like he had been hit by a vehicle.
