Robert B. Hutcheson, M.D., 89, of Boca Raton, Fla., passed away peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 21, 2013, at Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach, Fla., after a short illness.
He is survived by his three children, Robert Jr., Brian and Carol; and by his extended family of four grandchildren, Rob III, Sean, Kelly and Lauren, as well as seven great-grandchildren, Katherine, Abigail, Jack, Bennett, Olivia, Gabriella and Michel.
Doc Hutcheson was born and raised in the South Jersey area, attended Moorestown High School, graduated from the College of William and Mary, and then received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical School, now part of the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. As the well-respected, quintessential family doctor, he chose to practice medicine in Woodbury, N.J., until his retirement in 1987, after 39 years of being on call 24/7, making house calls, delivering babies, and treating anyone that was in need of medical attention, day or night. He was greatly missed upon his reluctant retirement due to health reasons.
After a couple of years in Florida, Doc and his wife Dorothy, moved to Lakeside, near Glacier National Park, an area they both truly loved, until Dorothy succumbed to cancer in 2005, and Doc moved back to Florida to be close to his three children. However, his thought never left the beauty of Montana’s lakes and mountains, and he spoke of it often while reminiscing with hundreds of photographs.
All in the family, and extended family and friends, will miss the patriarch of our family dearly.
“Be at peace, and we will all be with you when our time comes.”
