TACOMA - The Quincy Jacks capped off an amazing season in their first year back at the 1A classification with a second place finish at the 25th Annual Mat Classic State Wrestling Tournament in Tacoma Feb. 15 and 16.

Quincy claimed the Caribou Trail League title, won the district and regional tournament and sent eight wrestlers to the Dome.

Six of the eight qualifiers placed at the Classic. Christian Alejandrez (106) and Gabe Martinez (113) were crowned state champions. Antonio Melendez (160), finished third, Isias Jimenez (145) and Carter Bushman (152) placed fourth, and Jason Guzman took sixth at 285.

Granger took top honors with 153 team points, the Jacks had 105.5, and Warden finished with 55.

The Cougars were unable to match last year's success as the 2B State Champion, but did fair well having four of nine wrestlers place at the 2013 Mat Classic.

Warden's highest finisher was Adam Hansen (220) who lost a 6-4 overtime decision to Asa Schwartz from Chelan.

In the 106 weight class it was Jesus Dominguez and Miguel Canales placing fifth and sixth, and Ramese Rodelo placing eighth at 126.
