Mission Valley couple charged with abusing toddler

GREAT FALLS – A couple from the Mission Valley is facing criminal charges in Great Falls related to the battery of a toddler in January.

The child’s mother, Alexis Paul, 19, and her boyfriend, Riley James Charlo-Whitworth, 20, both pled not guilty to the charges they are faced with. Charlo-Whitworth stands accused of aggravated assault, criminal endangerment, tampering with physical evidence and assault on a minor. Paul, meanwhile, is charged with criminal endangerment after failing to promptly seek medical attention for her child.

The toddler, who was airlifted to Seattle after the incident, reportedly suffered a broken leg and lots of bruises. He was released from the hospital after a few days and his since returned to St. Ignatius, where he is staying with his father and continuing to recover.

Trials for Paul and Charlo-Whitworth are set to commence on June 3.

Whitford hearing continued to Dec. 4

POLSON - The district court omnibus hearing for murder suspect Makueeyapee Whitford has been continued again, with Whitford's attorney Steven Eschenbacher requesting a six-week continuance in a brief court appearance Thursday. Eschenbacher indicated that the request is motivated by "outstanding discovery motions" that are still being processed.
