Warehouse Sports to close
Nils Rosdahl | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 12 years, 9 months AGO
Anything for hunting, fishing and camping can be found at the giant Warehouse Sports store in Coeur d'Alene.
But not for long.
The 6,300- square-foot store just west of Costco at Neider Avenue and Fourth Street will have its last day March 10. The company was recently purchased by Sportsman's Warehouse and is closing its Cd'A and Spokane stores.
So the 35 employees here will be looking for work. Until it closes, store hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. The friendly employees I talked to said the inventory will go to Sportman's Warehouse stores, and the trophy animal heads and horns decorating the walls mostly will be returned to their owners. Neither "Sport" store is to be confused with Sports Authority, primarily an athletic equipment store that will open in Silverlake Mall this spring.
Phone Warehouse Sports here at 664-7900.
Press Start to Play starting
Oh, a new store that will give young people alternatives for activity and meeting others should open Friday. Press Start to Play is in the 1,250-square-foot facility that once was Boarders for Christ at 1121 E. Sherman Ave. (next to Burt's Music).
Offering both retail items (sell, buy and trade) and activities, the place will have video games, table-top board and card games, live-networking computer events and personal computer and MacIntosh computer repair. The store will participate in community and charity events.
Owners are Tanner Roberts, a Cd'A native, and Jon Kropff, originally from Spokane, with associate Jessica Cutting, who moved here with her family from Santa Cruz, Calif.
Open hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Phone 664-5421. A website is under construction.
Caffe Capri in Prairie Center
The beverage and sweets store that used to be Tully's in Prairie Shopping Center in Hayden is now Caffe Capri.
Located between Albertson's and Rite Aid with a focus on "latte art," Caffe Capri offers a full line of espressos, frappes, fruit smoothies, espresso-ice cream shakes, pastries, snacks and retail items related to coffee.
The store includes take-out and seating for about 50 customers. With four employees, hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Owner Dave Tawney also has stores in Spokane and Yakima. Check information on Twitter and Facebook. Phone 762-3232.
Tessendorf Chiropratic in Hayden
Offering comprehensive chiropractic care for all ages, Tessendorf Family Chiropractic has opened at 1401 Biztown Loop (just off Hayden Avenue) in Hayden.
Originally from Wisconsin, owner Joe Tessendorf studied in Eau Claire, Wis., and Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. His family moved here for the area's "strong family values and outdoor activities."
Open hours are 8 to noon and 2-7 p.m. weekdays (closed Thursdays) and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays. The mission is "Healthier People, Healthier Planet." Phone 762-3660. Check www.tessendorffamilychiro.com.
Now for the Tidbits
- Notice the second and fourth items above. Each paragraph starts with an "O." It's a typographical, alliterative trick to get you into the pieces.
- Jim Valle of Parkwood Properties leaked the Caffe Capri info. He also said his firm has more spaces available in Prairie Shopping Center. I also noticed five empty spaces in Ironwood Square. Evidently banks are more likely to loan commercial money on something they would own if the borrower defaults.
- A spy says the Appleway McDonald's plans a major remodel. The company won't talk. We remember when the kid seats were saddle options.
- Mackenzie River Pizza also plans a remodel. And the building permit remodel for Sports Authority in Silverlake Mall is $884,000.
- Anything happening in the former Great Harvest building on Government Way?
- Avoid "same exact" and "is currently." They're redundant.
- "Glibido" is all talk and no action.
