POLSON — Shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday night, a fire started at a waterfront condominium just west of the U.S. Hwy. 93 bridge in Polson.

Polson fire personnel responded to the scene, and were able to restrict the majority of the fire’s damage to the exterior of the home. The blaze did not spread to neighboring units in the housing development, although another dwelling had to be ventilated due to smoke.

The home’s occupants were not present at the time of the fire.

Polson Fire Chief John Fairchild said that a discarded cigar or cigarette on the building’s deck was being considered as a possible cause of the fire.
